An essential process for good health and healthy living is proper eating. Eating is one of the processes our body replenishes all the essential organs and betters their functionality. Eating contributes in no little way in prospering our lives. The kind of food we eat, manner and time dictates our health. Proper growth and body maintenance require good food at all times.

Today, many find it difficult to eat. It is not just their making, but because of circumstances beyond their control. A variety of things can cause inner pain ranging from - bitter disappointments, rejection, and environment where one's emotional needs are ignored, or traumatic childhood experiences, all these in turn may result in eating disorder.

It is a fact that ‘food is the only medicine for good health'. For us to be healthy, fit and happy, we must eat properly. The goodness of eating fresh fruit daily is associated with a reduction in the risk of heart disease, beriberi, pellagra, scurvy and rickets and so many more. Food rich in vitamins A and C, carbohydrates, phosphorus, potassium and protein are most important in sustaining lives.

Balanced diet with adequate vitamins B, C and D helps our body fight diseases. Eating properly and in moderation, getting

Sufficient rest and exercise, plus breathing plenty of fresh air, are great helps in prolonging lives. All these foods rich in vitamins A and C, carbohydrates, phosphorus, and potassium should always be handy. But, they must be taken in moderation and with the highest sense of hygiene.

More so, we need food ‘to promote growth and to make good the wear and tear on body cells. Yes, this is true because after every stressful day in the office, school or at home our body relieves of the used energy and therefore must replenish them. Food helps the body to rebuild the lost energy and help equip the body cells.

The importance of food cannot be overstressed because food is needed for the body to perform optimally. Food is needed for the production of heat and energy. It is the fuel our body needs to function well and without food, death beckons. If we eat poorly, we will have little energy. Lack of iron in our diet can leave us feeling tired and lethargic. Lack of food weakens the body and leaves the immune system at the mercy of diseases.

Ways we can improve our diet

The best way to improve one's diet and help elongate his/her life is by taking from the following:

Dairy Products and Beverages. These include milk and milk products of cows, goats, or sheep

Spices and Honey. Spices prominently used for seasoning were mint, dill, cumin, rue, and mustard leaves.

Fruits and Nuts, Vegetables, Flesh as Food is all beneficial and healthful diet tips.
